Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

Welcome!

We have a new challenge for you at The Squirrel and The Fox and it's Summer or Winter. This adorable image is from our current sponsor **Pink Cat Studio** and I love it. Here's the link if you like it too.

I cut an aperture window from a Spellbinders Decorative Labels Twenty-Seven die and popped my dp up on foam dots. The image was colored with Copics and I added frosted lace stickles to create a fur trim on her hood. They are such a cute couple, don't ya think? Verve's Merry and Bright stamp set provided my sentiments and I used a felt snowflake to back my button with twine bow. I outlined the edges with faded jeans distress ink and added some ruby red liquid dots for a finish. As you can tell by my sentiments this one is for my sweetie because I love him and penguins. :)

Black Friday???

Gift Card Folder-front

(back)

No thank you!!!

That's right, here in America we celebrate Thanksgiving this Thursday and Friday the shopping rush begins. (Actually I think they've even moved it up to Thanksgiving night, good grief). I am not one of those people who get up in the wee hours, or camp outside a store, or stand in those long lines or any of that craziness. It's just not for me but you know what does work for me? Gift Cards. It may seem impersonal to some but my family loves them and they get exactly what they want. :)

I am hosting the new challenge - Be Krafty - at Top Tip Tuesday and I created a tutorial on how to make this easy and versatile Gift Card Folder. You can check it out HERE and see all the amazing inspiration by my teamies as well. The fun image is Bobblehead Christmas-Santa by Bugaboo Stamps and I used him for several gift card folders this year. I did create one without an image and here it is.

front was distressed with Concord Grape

and a few more using the fun Bobblehead Christmas -Santa image

In the Meadow...

(click for a clearer view)

we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man
But you can do the job
when you're in town

Well at least I finished the verse for you lol. For the lyrics to Winter Wonderland click here and sing along with me. :)

It's time to kick off a new linky party at Make It Monday! Are you ready? Before we do, I'd like to congratulate our featured entry and winning commenter of last week's party.

My little tune was inspired by the image, In the Meadow, our current sponsor **C. C. Designs** provided the DT to create with. It's so cute! I colored it with Copic's, added a touch of holiday sparkle with Stickles and bordered the Spellbinders die cut with liquid pearls. A simple button with twine and four holly stickers is all the embellishment I needed for the top of this gift box. Each side was covered with green cardstock and a cardstock sticker was added to the front. The gift box was a snap to put together since it is premade and comes with a magnetic closure. It's been in my stash for a while (out of sight, out of mind) and I purchased it here.

It's hard to believe we are celebrating Thanksgiving, here in the US, in four days. Where has this year gone?

Fall Is In the Air

It's Sunday in the US but Monday in Australia so you know what that means-time for the new linky party at Make It Monday to open. Yay! I love seeing the creative mojo from around the world and how everyone gets involved commenting on other entries. :) On that note, congrats to our winning commenter and featured entry, way to go!

Our sponsor this week is the fun and cute Bugaboo Stamps. I'm using Jar-Autumn which I happen to love. I can think of so many uses for this image and I let it take center stage on my card. I embossed the background panel with a honeycomb folder by Cuttlebug, colored my image with Copic's and distressed the image panel with antique linen and spiced marmalade. Twill ribbon and bling complete my card.

Hi all!

We have a new challenge for you at The Squirrel and The Fox and this one is special to us. One of our design team members-Mags B has a daughter fighting Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Violet is the ribbon color associated with this disease so we are asking you to use this color somewhere on your paper creation.

Sacha, her daughter, was so touched by this challenge that it inspired her to create a beautiful bracelet and earring set to give away to one lucky winner. Mags is also offering a Michael Powell stamp and Whimsy die so click HERE to find out how you can win these fabulous prizes in addition to the prize our sponsor is offering.

Our sponsor, Make It Crafty, provided images for the DT to create with and we're so appreciative of their support. I'm using Sitting Jane digital image on my card and I loved coloring her. I used several violet embellishments and I hope Sacha and Mags like my card. :)

BORROWED SKETCH

That's the new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday and Deneen, our hostess, found a terrific sketch to use as inspiration. But before I go into that there's some news to share and I'm so happy I don't have to keep quiet a minute longer. We have 5 brand new DT members making their debut and you are going to love the inspiration and talent they are bringing to Top Tip Tuesday. So without further ado here's my new teamies...

My card features an image by Meljen's Designs-Fall Wreath-and I'm using it on a Thanksgiving card. The sentiment is by Verve Stamps and here's a tip for newbies. If you need a pearl/rhinestone embellishment and you don't have one to match just color a clear or pearl embellishment with Copic markers. You can create custom bling that matches perfectly. :)

My teamies have some wonderful tips and creations to share so please pay them a visit by clicking HERE or their links on my right sidebar.

Thanks for spending some time with me, have a terrific day!

Happy Birthday

A new linky party just opened at Make It Monday and our sponsor this week is Little Miss Muffet Stamps

Congrats to our featured entry and our winning commenter of last week's linky party. It was exciting to see so many wonderful entries and it definitely made it hard to choose my Pick of The Week. There's a lot of creativity out there and we're glad you choose to share your paper creations with us at Make It Monday!

On my birthday card today I'm using an image, Polka Dot Pals Daisy, by our sponsor. She's colored with Copic markers and I sponged the white background with Worn Lipstick and Victorian Velvet Distress Ink by Ranger. I used ribbons, paper flowers, a pearl brad, bling, Stickles, a die cut tag by MFT and stamped sentiment from Verve on my card. The papers are by MME-Life of the Party and they've been in my stash for a while so made me happy to use them. :)

Here's the sketch I used for inspiration.

My PICK OF THE WEEK is...

Miss You, A Lot!

Hello all, so happy to have you here!

It's always exciting around here when Saturated Canary is our sponsor. Krista's images are beloved by those who enjoy coloring with markers. This little cutie, Angels Among Us, reminds me so much of my own daughter. We all feel she is an angel among us in our family. This card is for her as she's a freshmen at college, and like all college students she enjoys receiving care packages. I always tuck a handmade card in the box as well as a few treats for her and my grand dog, Rosie. :)

The sentiment (so true!) was spelled out with Tim's Idea-o-logy
sticker letters. She's colored with Copic's and the paper is by
Cosmo Cricket-Early Bird collection.
(Another paper pad which I tend to hoard save)

Thanks Pam for sharing your talent with us at Make It Monday!

Animal Antics

It's all about Animal Antics at The Squirrel and The Fox.

Our sponsor, Sweet and Sassy Stamps, supplied the DT with images to create with and I'm using Santa Owl on my Christmas card. He's a cutie and I had fun putting this card together for someone special.

I used papers from Bo Bunny and Webster's Pages plus several dies. A holly brad with a bow made its way onto this card (its been in my stash for awhile) and you'll find liquid dots all over this card. I'm kind of on a roll to use up a few ;) of the supplies that have been lying around my crafty space. I made a commitment at the beginning of the year to not buy supplies that I did not need and borrowing a few paper packs I've kept it to expendables only. Good thing January 1st is just around the corner because I am ready for some new stuff. ;) Okay, back to my card-Verve Stamps helped me out with the tree die, snowflake stamped images and Merry Christmas sentiment. Spellbinders dies were used to cut all of the circles and the paper roses are by Recollections.

Speaking of animal antics, my DD and I were at the zoo in Nashville today. We enjoyed watching this little guy who was perched on the edge of a barn loft door. He was quite a character and took no notice that his shells were landing in people's hair as they walked out of the barn. ;) For him it was all about a good meal and enjoying the crisp autumn air.

he is way up there, can you see him

here's a better view, he totally blends with the siding of the barn

we saw some barn owls too but no antics for them today ;)
