Make It Monday #139 with Saturated Canary

Hello and welcome to a new linky party at Make It Monday!

Congratulations to our Featured Entry and Commenting Winner of MIM #138.

We are sponsored this week by Saturated Canary and I'm using an image called Hatress which was a freebie some months ago. I've been wanting to color her up so I just went for it. I never dreamed she would end up in lime and hot pink though. Not sure where that came from but as I sat looking at her I realized she too was destined for a page in my design team art journal. I didn't start out with a plan for this page and it totally took on a life of its own. The tea cup in her hand sparked a thought and I'm glad I followed through with it. She reminds me of a girl who likes to drink her tea hot and read a good book at the same time. ;) Lucky for me, I found the perfect quote by C. S. Lewis and I wrote it around the perimeter of my page using a white glaze pen. It reads, "You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me. " I totally concur with C. S. Lewis. :)

For starters I sprayed Dylusions Bubblegum Pink, Black Marble and Fresh Lime in puddles on my page. Like Dyan recommends I misted the page with water and let the colors run up, down, and sideways. Next I blotted with a roll of paper towels and dried my page using a heat tool. I inked up a large diamond pattern stamp with Staz On Black ink and randomly stamped the page. Since I was using a quote about reading I thought book paper would be nice but found some Tim Holtz tissue paper that I've been hoarding for a while and used it instead. White acrylic paint and a high tech tool (a used paper towel roll) created my circles. Once they were dry I didn't like how stark the white looked so I retrieved my Faber Castell Gelatos from a nearby drawer and toned it down with yellow. It incorporated another color and I liked it so I used it on the tissue paper and colored in the circles. Pink was also used on the paper pieces and I outlined the edge of my page with a black gelato. White did come into play with rub ons and I added a few black and purple rub ons too. Hand drawn scallops around the circles and my hand written quote give my page a personal touch. A few MS butterflies were punched from a dp in the Sweet Nectar 6x6 pad and finish off this page. Note: I used Deco Art decoupage glue to adhere the tissue paper, digi and butterflies and seal my rub ons. Faber Castell Pitt Pens were used to shade my image and along the edges of the torn tissue pieces. That's my offering this week and I hope you like it. (Can you tell I was typing in a hurry? Sorry if I rambled too much)

Make It Monday #137 with Pink Paper Paradise

That's right!
Our very own Michelle, founder of Make It Monday, is our sponsor this week. Earlier in the year she opened an online shop, Pink Paper Paradise, where she sells Copic markers, refills, airbrush kits, and blending card plus stamps, ink pads, dies and much more. Being that I'm in the US and she currently doesn't ship overseas I didn't have one of her stamps to create with so I am using a Saturated Canary digi called Princess Rose Red.

I had fun creating this art journal page and I took extra care not to "over do" it. It's easy for me to get carried away sometimes ;) but I really wanted to keep it simple. I added some colored texture paste to my sun using a Crafter's Companion stencil and I like the dimension it added. The rays were hand cut from She Art paper by Christy Tomlinson and everything on the page was shaded with Faber-Castell Pitt Pens. The background was created with Faber-Castell Gelatos which are so vibrant and colorful. I did not gesso my page first (which I recommend doing) so I had to mist the page with water to blend the colors. Still worked but they blend better if you apply a coat of gesso first. Here are few more close ups...

I used the following Copic's on my art journal page:
E000, E01, E11, E25, E31, E33, E35, Y21, YG23, B000, B23, R27, R46, 100

Say It Isn't Sew

A challenge after my own heart, Faux Stitching. :)

That's right, for the next two weeks we want to see faux stitching on your paper creations at Top Tip Tuesday. My card features Pricilla Pie, one of the many beautiful images to choose from at Krista's online shop, Saturated Canary.

Prize: 2 Digi images from her lovely shop.

Thank you Krista for supplying the DT with images to create with!

This was a fun card to create and here's my TIP: Rub ons make faux stitching a breeze. That's right, those "stitches" on my image panel are rub ons. That's my kind of sewing. ;)

That's all for me today, I do hope you'll pay our guest designer, Dorte, a visit and the design team to see more inspiration.

Lisa

Make It Monday #130 with Saturated Canary

Sentiment and image on die cut by TE

Did you hear the news? We have a new design team member and I hope all of you will give Jenny a warm Make It Monday welcome. Every DT Call entry was fab and I know it was hard for Michelle to choose only one but we are delighted to have Jenny on board with us. She designed a delightful card using our current sponsor that you will not want to miss.
Welcome Jenny!!!

The linky party at Make It Monday is now open and we want to see your papercrafting projects, old or new, in our gallery. That's right, your creation does not have to be new so look through those oldies but goodies and share them with us. Our sponsor this week is Saturated Canary and I'm using Usherette on my card. We are big movie buffs at my house so I'll use this card to ask my DH for a date night when the youngest leaves the nest in August. ;) For those of you who love working with digital images you know how much fun it is to color Krista's images. I love the eyes on her girls and the expression behind them!

I switched gears for the inside of my card and used a stamp and sentiment from TE's Cuppie Love Scenes which is too funny. I needed to continue my movie theme but found that I need stamps in that category. It's one more stamp set that I can check off my stamp count list (see top left sidebar) though so I'm happy. Be sure to click the photo to see the mad cupcake on the right, a little perturbed ya think lol?!?

Make It Monday #122 with Saturated Canary

Hello and welcome to the first Make It Monday linky party of 2013!!!

I am excited because we are starting a new year and Michelle has lined up several new sponsors, the first being Saturated Canary. I used Krista's Salute Her digital image on my card & it's in honor of my daughter-in-law, Jessica, who works as a Pharmacy Technician in the U. S. Army. She is the first member of her family to join the military and she has truly dared to be different.

I colored the image with Copics and fussy cut it, a kraft panel was embossed with a Stars Impression Plate by TE and I stamped three stars onto vanilla cs with Mossy Mix'd Media Inx by Clearsnap and fussy cut those out too. Pop dots were used to add dimension to my digi image and the kraft panel was adhered to a green base. The sentiment and stars are from Verve stamps and I finished it off with a button and twine combo.

Pick Of The Week is...

As they say, you can't judge a book by its cover and there's more than meets the eye when you see the inside of this card too. I've included one of several photos Asha shared on her blog of the incredible view of the inside.  Yummy cupcakes, colored to perfection await you and a side shot reveals the amazing design of this card. You can see what I'm talking about by visiting her blog Sunny Summer Crafts and checking it out for yourself. Congrats Asha and thanks for sharing!

On another congratulatory note I'd like to wish Michelle the best of luck with her new online store, Pink Paper Paradise Stamp & Colour, which she officially opened yesterday. You can check the details out on her blog here. Congrats Michelle!

Be sure to check out the inspiration by my teamies at Make It Monday or click their links on my right sidebar. As for me, I'm happy to be back in blogland after taking some time off to celebrate the holidays with my family. It was fun to be together again but it's also good to get back into the groove of normal everyday life. ;)

Thanks for dropping by and spending some time with me today!

Hugs,
Lisa xx
