Time to Say Goodbye

~ Use Something Metal ~

Hello, I'm back with a card that I made for our new challenge at The Squirrel and The Fox.  For my metal element I used a brad from Bo Bunny. Our current sponsor, Delicious Doodles, provided the team with images to create with and I chose this gorgeous digi-Kingfisher in the Rushes. He was such a pleasure to color with my distress markers.

This is a bittersweet post for me because I recently made the decision to step down as a design team member. I have truly enjoyed creating alongside these wonderful ladies, including my former teamies, and I'll miss chatting with them on the DT blog. I most certainly want to thank Linda and Tracey for the invite to join the team back in 2012 and for all the wonderful memories I've made along the way. You guys are the best! xoxo

I'm closing now before I get too weepy. Thanks for stopping by today and I do hope you'll pay my teamies a visit and check out their beautiful inspiration using our sponsor's images.

I'm using Rosalee from our current sponsor and she was fun to color. A Fleur de Lis die by Spellbinders adds a touch of elegance and she's surrounded by several pink elements-butterflies, paper roses, bling, a crystal heart and twine. Because there's so much happening on the front of my card I stamped the sentiment on the inside. A little bling, organza ribbon and a handmade bow out of grosgrain ribbon complete my card.

Here's a peek...

My aunt is a breast cancer survivor (4 yrs. +) and I am on DT's with women who are currently battling this dreaded disease so I wanted them to know they are not alone. Whether you are a cancer survivor, going through your own battle, or encouraging a family member/friend people everywhere are here to support you in your fight!

On this note, I'd like to share a project my DD recently completed as a Textiles, Merchandising and Design student at college. The challenge was to create a custom designed bra for class and students could elect to enter their bra in the local Bra's For a Cause charity auction. This nationwide annual event raises money for the Cancer Research Institute which benefits all types of cancer research. She was inspired by the beautiful clothes that Scarlett O'Hara wore in the movie Gone With the Wind and I have to say I love her finished project. I realize I am partial ;) but her professor and classmates loved it too and encouraged her to enter the competition. The charity gala is next week so we'll see how "Modern Scarlett" fares. She has my vote!

A close up, love the detail on the cups :)

The bra cups had to be covered, she used velvet for the
front and satin for the inside.

Thanks for taking a look at my card and her TXMD project. :) Also, I would like to thank Teri of Delicious Doodles for providing the DT with images to create with.

For more inspiration my teamies have an incredible line up of cards which you can see HERE or you'll find their links on my right sidebar.

Have a terrific day and don't forget to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness. You can always check the local events happening in your city/state, click the link and donate directly to the Cancer Research Institute or send handmade cards to cancer patients at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX. To get the details including the address click the link below.

The Squirrel and The Fox #51

Autumn or Spring

For our next challenge at The Squirrel and The Fox we'd like to see a spring or autumn theme on your cards/projects. Fall is my favorite season and I'm looking forward to cooler temps and the beautiful colors it will bring. My image, Pumpkin Corner, is by our current sponsor Delicious DoodlesA big thank you to Teri for providing the design team with images to create with. The sentiment is from Verve's Bountiful Harvest stamp set and I kept with the CAS style for this card. You can probably see that my ink smeared when I was going over the image panel. grrrr... I'm out of the paper I normally use for colored digi images. Hopefully my order will arrive soon. :)

There's a great line up of inspiration by my teamies on the challenge blog so be sure to check out their creations HERE. Also, congratulations to the winner of our Whimsical challenge and the Top 3!
