Make It Monday #120 with Meljen's Designs

Hello and welcome to Make It Monday's new linky party! Can you  believe how fast this year has flown by? I can't either and December has literally been a whirlwind around my house. If the decorating, baking, shopping, wrapping, waiting in the long line to ship your packages :( and the many other events going on this time of the year isn't enough I threw it a total reorganization of my craft room (mammoth project) and updating our son's old bedroom to accomodate his new status as a married man. Geesh Louise, I am tired and have miles to go yet lol. Oh well, enough of my crazy happenings how about you. Are you ready for Christmas and do you have all of your cards made? If not, I hope this CAS style card will give you some last minute inspiration. I love this image, Cheery Lights Mailbox, by Meljen's Designs and couldn't wait to color it. I trimmed and chomped the corners and added a green dp with a red gingham ribbon to accent. Easy peasy as they say and for a finishing touch I stamped Merry Christmas at the bottom.

Make It Monday #116 with Meljen's Designs

It's time for a new linky party at Make It Monday and we're sponsored this week by the ultra fab Meljen's Designs. I adore Melissa's images and couldn't wait to use this cute little fella, Marshmallow Snowman, on my card. That smile just makes you melt, doesn't it! I will admit that I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all that will happen in the next six weeks. Here in America we will be celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, Black Friday (for serious bargain shoppers) the day after and Christmas all within the span of a month and three days. It's too much! I vote we move Thanksgiving up a few weeks, what say you? lol

A big round of applause to all those who entered last week's linky party and the winners. You guys truly inspire me and I want to apologize for being a bit tardy this week with my commenting. A lot going on in my world and I've been dealing with a shoulder injury which has made life a bit difficult lately. Enough of that, for now I am thrilled to introduce my...

Make It Monday #111 with Meljen's Designs

Another week has flown by and now it's time for another linky party at Make It Monday. Congrats to our winner and to those chosen by the DT as their Pick of the Week. It is so much fun to look through the gallery and see so many amazing creations linked up. Thank You! I would also like to thank our current sponsor, Meljen's Designs, for providing the design team with images to work with. I love the variety of digi images in Melissa's online store so if you haven't shopped there yet be sure to check it out and see what you are missing. :)

My card features the adorable digi image, A Girl and Her Overalls, and it is one of my fave's. She's holding a picked flower behind her back which reminded me of my daughter when she was a little girl. She'd pick a flower for me and say "just for you" mommy so naturally I couldn't resist this image nor the sentiment by Waltzingmouse Stamps. ;) I colored her in Copics, used a red atyou Spica pen on the hearts and created my blue background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. Four pearl brads by American Crafts anchor my colored image to an embossed yellow panel that was created using a Taylored Expressions's Hearts Impression Plate. Red grosgrain ribbon adds a bit of color underneath and I added a red button tied with a red burlap bow also. The perimeter of my base was faux stitched using a fine point Sharpie pen and to finish I stamped my sentiment in Memento Paris Dusk, chomped the corners on my sentiment & yellow  embossed panel and called it good. I really wanted to make this image stand out and I thought this sketch at Sketch Frenzy Friday would help me do that. Here's a close up of this sweet little gal.

As for my POTW I chose #156  by Lucy Patrick and her Fairy Garden card. Is it ever adorable!!! I fell in love with the bright colors, birthday banner, and the whimsical touches she added. Be sure to visit Lucy's blog to see more photos and learn how she created this enchanting 3D card.

Make It Monday #107

Hi guys and welcome back to another linky Make It Monday party! Michelle is currently on holiday with her family and our fearless leader for the next few weeks is Lisa Minckler. I know what you are thinking, now it's a party. hehehe This week we are sponsored by the fabulous Meljen's Designs and I'm using the Country Star Pumpkin digital image. I'm so happy that fall is nearly here in the US and the temps will start cooling off for good.

My inspiration for this card came from the fall season itself-every fall kids are back in school, state fairs are being hosted around the US, and pumpkins are a familiar sight. The papers in the Crate Paper's School Spirit Collection were a perfect fit with my theme. I distressed the score card & alpha dp's and attached to my orange base. One of the dp's in the pack featured student's grade cards and I fussy cut two of them to add a pop of color and visual interest. A Webster's Pages Country Birds Whimsies in brown perches atop one of them and makes himself at home. ;-) The star of the show however is my Country Star Pumpkin image which I colored with Copic markers. Spellbinders dies created my layered panels for my image and Kaisercraft Chocolate Pearls anchor the corners while brown polka dot ribbon adds a bit of whimsy. I'd like to thank our generous sponsor for providing the design team with digital images to work.

Every week the DT is asked to choose one entry for our Pick of the Week and I'm finding it harder and harder to choose only one. I'm thinking maybe I could pick one for every category entered like cards, LO's, altered projects, mixed media, etc... what do you think? After all, Michelle is away on holiday and they say while the cat's away the mice will play. I was torn this week so I'm going for it with my POTW and a runner-up. Shhhh! My POTW is #32 Heather A. Hudson and her gorgeous shabby mini album. It made my heart sing and she's taken terrific close ups of each page and provided wonderful details of how she created it. Be sure to click the link above to see this beauty for yourself. My runner up is #55 Amanda Davis and her adorable little handbag which is seriously too cute. Thanks for all the inspiration ladies and to all of the amazing weekly entries!

Happy Birthday Top Tip Tuesday!

We are in full celebration mode this fortnight because Top Tip Tuesday is celebrating its 2 year blogaversary on September 7th!!! Can you believe it? Two years ago Leanne started this blog where crafters gather now from all over the globe to participate in bi-monthly challenges. A few months back Leanne decided to move on to explore other creative territory and Carol & Samantha took over as new co-owners. They have been fabulous to keep things running smoothly and very recently enlisted Lisa M. to help with the blog/design team coordination. I am blessed to be a part of this wonderful team and the camaraderie that I share with this talented group of ladies. Have I mentioned how funny they are? They keep me laughing and always stretch my creative boundaries.

Our challenge is Birthday Theme and Bettina is our lovely hostess. She created a fabulous picnic box tutorial to share with you so be sure to drop by the TTT blog and check it out. It's adorable! To participate we are looking for gifts-wrapping/box/bag-or use an image of a gift. So simply make a gift, or use something that you would normally use if you were giving a gift like wrapping paper or box/bag. Naturally cards are always popular at birthdays and if you make one use an image of a gift on your card to qualify for the prizes. Ok, any questions just leave a comment for Carol, Samantha or Lisa M. on the TTT blog and they'll get back to you quickly. Ready, set, create and good luck everyone!

Images were provided for the design team by Meljen's Designs {thank you} and I used Cupcake Mouse for my gift tag image. I colored it with Copic markers and used Spellbinders Cl. Ovals & Lacey Ovals to die cut it. It's attached with Doodlebug Valentine twine and my gift box was a bargain find at Tuesday Morning for 49 cents. :D I've had this large birthday die cut sticker in my stash for a while so I was happy to finally put it to good use. Easy peasy! I'm entering this project in the The Paper Shelter-Anything GoesDiva's by Design-Anything Goes & City Crafter Challenge Blog-Bake Sale challenges.

Make It Monday #103

Hi everyone, I've been sitting on some exciting news but I can finally let the cat out of the bag. A few weeks ago Michelle, owner of the weekly Make It Monday Linky Party, asked me to join her design team. I'm a big fan of this challenge where "Anything Goes" so I quickly replied YES to her email. ;-) The team has given me a warm welcome and I'm so appreciative. Thanks ladies! I am replacing Karen who recently stepped down from the design team so I have some big shoes to fill. I wish Karen all the best and want to thank Michelle again for the invite to join MIM. This is a humorous group so there will be a lot of chuckles along the way. Wish you could see me because I'm doin' a happy dance right now. :-)

My card features the Seafaring Seagull Frame, by our current sponsor Meljen's Designs Digital Stamps, and I colored my digi image with Copics. Stickles, antique linen distress ink and twine are the only embellishments on this CAS card. It was quick and easy to create which is one of the perks digi's can offer. It's great to have an all purpose card in my stash which I can use the next time an occasion pops up and I'm unprepared lol.

To see more inspiration using Meljen's Designs Digital Stamps head on over to MIM and check out the amazing creations by my teamies. You'll be inspired!
