World's Best Father

Welcome! I have a confession to make-at first I was a little intimidated by this sketch and I passed it over. However, it intrigued me and I just decided to go for it. I'm glad I did because it has become one of my favorites now and the possibilities are endless. It really is all about perspective! The sketch is by the uber talented Karan Gerber at Cardabilites and I made this card for my FIL.

For color inspiration I played with the current Colour Q #141 Challenge and here's our inspiration photo.

Great colors for Father's Day! Speaking of Father's Day I am entering this card in the One Stop Craft Challenge-Father's Day and it will close in two days so hurry and link up. ;) I found a dp in the Tradewinds stack by DCWV that was nautical and it featured two of the challenge colors, navy & brocade blue, which left me to find lime and bashful blue. I spotted the Cas-ual Friday's Challenge #56 which required us to use Polka Dots {enter lucky limeade} and a bashful blue dp from MME rounded out my fourth color. The color white was used for my die cut panel and I sponged it with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink to add visual interest. Then I stamped the bass image in Stormy Sky Distress Ink and World's Best FATHER was stamped in Memento Paris Dusk. I brought out my Copic markers to customize my pearl embellishments which completed it.

Thanks for taking a peek and I am always uplifted by your encouraging comments. I also want to welcome my newest followers to my blog and I hope you find some inspiration here. If you are looking for a challenge check out my Challenges page where I've linked up a *few* for you and they are sorted by category. :-)
Have a wonderful day, wherever you are!

Just a Note

Hi everyone, so happy to share this card with you today using a *new to me* sketch challenge by Cardabilities and here's the lovely sketch I used. The challenge ends in a few hours and it seems this is the new norm for me, always coming in under the wire. Ugh!! This sketch was so different from most I've seen and it just so happens that one of the dp's in the Rosy collection by MME was perfect for the main paper image. It made my day rosy, lol! I used a sentiment from the new TE Vintage Dreamer stamp set and the Double Moroccan Lace border punch adds the scallop element with a touch of sophistication.

I also plan to enter this in the Cas-ual Fridays CFC43 challenge, For Sentimental Reasons, which focuses on the sentiment. This card may look fussy but the dp's did most of the work making this a very CAS card to create. I did pop the "just a note" sentiment up on 3D foam squares so it would stand out more.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope all of you are having a crafty good time wherever you are!

CFC36

This is a rare occurrence but I'm here with my second post today to enter this card in CAS-ual Fridays: CFC36. Our challenge this week was to make a project with the colors of black and white and not a speck of another color. The colors were chosen in honor of Penguin Day on January 20th and the challenge ends at midnight EST so you still have time to enter. Here's a link to the CAS-ual Friday's site if you'd like more info on the challenge requirements. I based my card on Jen Shults wonderful sketch, DS35, which you can see here.

This card is as CAS as it comes and I love the simplicity of it! On another note, if you were looking for my mini album pages just click here for my previous post today and I'll be sharing more tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

A new day and a new challenge...

Good morning and thanks for stopping by today. I'm here to share a card that I am entering in the CR84FN46 Color Challenge and a *new to me* challenge, CAS-ual Friday's. I am coming in under the wire for the CAS challenge so I'll make this short and sweet. I used the CR84FN46 main colors of light pink, yellow & neutral with the scallop requirement for the CAS-ual Friday's challenge. Here's the graphic for the CR84FN46 Color Challenge showing our main colors and photo inspiration.

I started with a Hero Arts pre-made card and punched two MS Layered Arches borders which I accented with White Opal liquid pearls by Ranger. I painted two Maya Road chipboard hearts with Pearl Adirondack Acrylic Paint, let them dry and then added some sparkle with Pinkie Fairy Dust glitter. I die cut a banner from TCP's Easy Rosette 017 and used the small rosette as a backdrop for my Prima French White Fairytale Rose. The foam heart was die cut from Verve's From the Heart die set and the stamps are also from Verve. Black and white were the two neutrals I used and otherwise I remained true to the main colors of light pink, yellow and neutral. The scallops come into play with my punched borders and I separated them with pink polytwill ribbon for a little added sweetness. ;)

Thanks again for stopping by and I always enjoy your sweet comments!
Have an awesome day,
Lisa
