All About Animals

This challenge is for animal lovers and Brenda is hosting this one. All you need to do is choose an animal(s) and include it on your project. You'll be in the running for our fabulous sponsor's prize and if you're interested in being a guest designer at TTT leave a tip in your blog post and put TIP behind your name when you link up.

Crafty Sentiments Designs

Prize is winner's choice of 3 free digi's.

I used Suzi Blu's Loved Pets: Bubble Biscuit on this fun birthday card and colored it with Prismacolor pencils. You can see in this close up how I mixed several geometric designs together which leads me to my TIP: Mix geometric patterns using different elements like paper, dry embossing and ribbon. I love the visual interest it adds. The balloons are part of Hero Arts-Be Happy Today stamp set and I fussy cut them. The word Celebrate is part of a subway art stamp - Graphic Greetings Birthday - and I masked it with scotch tape so only this word would appear. Festive Berries Distress Ink adds a touch of color to my sentiment. The chevron dp is by The Paper Studio and the multi-star dp is from Echo Park's Little Boy collection. Kaisercraft red pearls and Ocean Blue liquid pearls by Ranger add the finishing touches.

I rarely show the inside of my cards but I love this birthday sentiment, and the candles, which are also from the Be Happy Today set. That's a Labels 10 Spellbinders die and should note that I used  Classic Circles and Classic Scalloped Circles dies by Spellbinders on the front of my card.

Before I go I have to share who I met yesterday in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
She needs no introduction-

We were eating lunch (at her restaurant located at The Island-a resort, shopping, and dining complex) when all of a sudden everyone started clapping. We couldn't see what was going on and then there she was. She sat down across from where we were sitting and her husband, Michael, joined her a few minutes later. She was so gracious to let everyone take pictures and after she ate lunch she surprised shoppers in the gift shop by appearing in the kitchen area to snap photographs with everyone. She is one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met.

Here she is signing some tea towels my hubby bought for me. :)

A rare photo for me as I hate having my picture taken but I had to make an exception this time. ;)

By the way, I highly recommend her new restaurant Paula Deen's Family Kitchen in Pigeon Forge.
Good food and plenty of it!!!

Thanks for the visit today, we are headed home and I have thoroughly enjoyed my Mother's Day get-a-way with the hubster and my Bub. I'll be by soon to catch up with all the crafty goodness that I missed while away. :)

Have a wonderful week,
Lisa xx

A Pair of Cuties

There's a new challenge over at Top Tip Tuesday and Deneen is our hostess. This time we are looking for a duo on your project, you know like a pair of something.

Lovebirds
Strawberries and Cream
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Wine and Cheese
Lock and Key
Black and White
Sticks and Stones
etc.

There are more ideas over on the challenge blog but you get the idea. Be sure to tell us in your blog post exactly what your duo is to be in the running for the sponsor's prize. Speaking of sponsors, we have a brand new one and you'll want to check out my teamies beautiful projects which showcase images by All Dressed Up

Prize is winner's choice of two free digi's from Wendy's Etsy store.

To create my card I used a lot of fun products~Echo Park Hello Summer paper by Lori Whitlock, the cs is by Bazzill and see the text paper...actually it packaging from The Girls Paperie chipboard alpha's I purchased before they closed. :( I also used Spellbinders Captivating Squares to die cut my focal panel and the stamps - Animals in Love~Owls - along with the sentiment stamp - Animal Love Sentiments - are by Taylored Expressions and were colored with Prismacolor pencils. The ruffle ribbon flowers are by Maya Road and they've been in my stash forever. I added touches of black with Kaisercraft pearls, ink and a faux stitched border with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen. Finishing touch was to add some red glitter to the hearts using Stickles by Ranger.

That's my card and it's for my hubby. We have an anniversary coming up next month, our 29th, and with all the travel I'll be doing the next three weeks I didn't want to leave it to chance. :)

I hope you'll join us for our Duo challenge at Top Tip Tuesday.
Thanks for the visit today!

The Squirrel and The Fox Challenge #35

Front View of Mini Book

Welcome to the first challenge for 2013, Anything Goes, at The Squirrel and The Fox!

We're sponsored by Robyn's Fetish and I'm using their Sunflower 1 image on the cover of my mini book. I love sunflowers and you might note that I've used this image before but what can I say, I really like it. :) A big thank you to Robyn's Fetish for providing the design team with images to play with! You can visit the challenge blog to see what my teamies created with their images or click their links on my right sidebar.

Now for my Mini Book which features some of my favorite quotes and Scriptures. It will sit on my desk and provide instant encouragement, anytime. I should note that I used black medium weight chipboard for the base and cut each one to 4.5" square. A Cinch binding machine made it a snap to put this project together and I opted to bind it at the top so each page will flip easily.

All of the edges were distressed with Black Soot Distress Ink and black alpha's from The Paper Studio and red tiny type alpha's from Cosmo Cricket spell out the title on the front cover. Throughout I've used various stamps and dies and you can check the supply list for those details.

Super fun project that inspired me to make more of these to give as gifts. Everyone can use a little encouragement, right. Thanks for taking the time to visit me today!

Exciting news to share!

Yours truly is one of the new design team members at The Squirrel and The Fox challenge blog. WooHoo! Linda & Tracey emailed me last week extending an invite to join the design team and I immediately replied yes. I was beyond excited to accept the invitation and I've received such a warm welcome. Thank you ladies! I can tell I'm going to have a great time with this group. :) As excited as I am I know our Challenge #29-Things with Wheels winner, Dee, and the Top 3 chosen by the design team are too. Congratulations to each of you!

Our fab sponsor for Challenge #30-Use a Ribbon is the The Digi Garden who also supplied the team with images to create with. :-) My card features, Immie's Scarf, and I chose the colors for her scarf from the dp's in the Christmas Eve Chowder collection by Jillibean Soup. The snowflake dp is a scrap piece from my stash and because it's all about ribbon this time I used two coordinating ribbons and tied a bright blue satin bow underneath Immie. Stamped snowflakes that received a dusting of glitter add to my wintry scene and I anchored the corners with brads. A die cut tag is the perfect place to stamp my sentiment and finishes my card. Many thanks to The Digi Garden for sponsoring our challenge and providing the team with digital images. Click the link to view their wonderful digital products, you'll be glad you did.

Sew happy

**For my Make It Monday DT post click HERE**

Hello and welcome! I was inspired to create this card by the wonderful color combo at the CR84FN Color Challenge, the button challenge at Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge #151 and the lovely layers challenge over at Divas by Design.  The colors denim, tan and brown were the main challenge colors and I did not need to add any neutrals this time. Obviously the button challenge inspired me to use buttons and I found this neat button dp in the This & That Graceful 6x6 pad that worked perfectly. Four buttons later and my main image panel was done and I moved on to those lovely layers the divas requested to see. ;-) So here are my layers-image panel, 4 buttons w/twine, seam binding, die cut tag w/sentiment, dp that I matted, die cut crochet border, base dp and pearls anchoring my corners. Inside I dressed my card up with another base dp, die cut doily, stamped sentiment on a die cut circle and a trio of pearls for embellishment. It was a lot of fun to make and I'm sending this to a friend who truly makes me "sew happy."

Thanks for taking a look and for those of you looking to join a design team the CR84FN Color Challenge is currently hosting a DT call. Click here for the details and good luck to everyone who enters.

Happy Crafting!

Make It Monday #105

Hi everyone! Welcome back to our new linky party at Make It Monday #105 and more creative fun. This is the second week in a row that the design team has been free to create anything we like. Since I am on an organization kick I decided to follow up my Shopping Organizer with a Bill Organizer.

There's no tutorial for this project because I recycled an unused recipe file with deep accordion pockets. I layered patterned papers by October Afternoon & cardstock on the front. Twine, a vintage Jenni Bowlin button, a MS doily lace border punch and an outlined border created with glaze pens tie everything together. To sort my categories I die cut eight Keeping Tabs Die's by Taylored Expressions and labeled each with Cosmo Cricket's Tiny Type alpha's. To finish I die cut a Die-namics File Tab by My Favorite Things and stamped BILLS with You're My Type-Upper alpha's by Taylored Expressions's to record what the organizer is for. Two gingham ribbons, that were already attached, are used to keep it closed when not in use. :D Now I have another recycled "trash to treasure" project!

Ok, ready for my POTW? I chose this fabulous card by #44 Rina Fashionista. All of her hard work paid off because she created a masterpiece and I would have loved receiving this card as a little girl. It's fabulous! Click the link above to see how she created this beauty with two Tilda stamps and punches. Congrats Rina and thanks for sharing your talent with us at MIM!

Just a Note

Hi everyone, so happy to share this card with you today using a *new to me* sketch challenge by Cardabilities and here's the lovely sketch I used. The challenge ends in a few hours and it seems this is the new norm for me, always coming in under the wire. Ugh!! This sketch was so different from most I've seen and it just so happens that one of the dp's in the Rosy collection by MME was perfect for the main paper image. It made my day rosy, lol! I used a sentiment from the new TE Vintage Dreamer stamp set and the Double Moroccan Lace border punch adds the scallop element with a touch of sophistication.

I also plan to enter this in the Cas-ual Fridays CFC43 challenge, For Sentimental Reasons, which focuses on the sentiment. This card may look fussy but the dp's did most of the work making this a very CAS card to create. I did pop the "just a note" sentiment up on 3D foam squares so it would stand out more.

Thanks for stopping by today and hope all of you are having a crafty good time wherever you are!
Lisa

March and November Calendars

Hello and welcome! I'm sharing two more altered calendars today, March and November. This is an ongoing project and I have five more months to go and I'll have my calendar/scrapbook project wrapped up. Both of these months share a holiday (everyone does celebrate St. Patty's Day, right?) and for me St. Patrick's is all about fun while Thanksgiving takes a more serious and elegant tone. Here's my March calendar...

and the deets. I used cardstock as my base and printed out the March 2012 Mini-Dated Calendar Download from Taylored Expressions onto Choice Snow White paper. I die cut it, along with an Origins dp by BG, with a Spellbinders Labels One. Black stitched ribbon from TE makes a nice divider and an Irish Blessing, from Verve's Blessings set, was stamped onto more dp from my Origins paper pad. I love Taylor's Wreath of Luck set and used nearly every image in this cute set. The wreath was die cut from the coordinating Seasonal Wreath die and I colored it with Copics and used Lime Green Stickles to add a little festive fun. Cute, simple and a little nod to the Irish that both the dh and I share in our family backgrounds. Now for November...

and the deets. As you can see there's not a stamp in sight on this one. I used chip letters from Classic K Bailey Chipboard Alphabet and Tim Coffey Fall Adhesive Borders by K & Co. to embellish this calendar. The background dp is from the Laced with Grace paper pad by Glitz and a trio of split pea rhinestones by Kaisercraft and a little crochet trim complete this one. I did pop the pumpkin up on foam dots for a little dimension and the calendar was made in my Microsoft Word program.

That's all for today, I'm off to take my Dad for a CT so no time to check for spelling errors. If you find some please overlook and thanks for stopping by, it means so much. A big welcome to Julie who is a new follower and I have long enjoyed her blog so be sure to pay her a visit and leave a fabby comment.

Have fun today and make it count!

Two of My Favorite Peeps, Brian and Sara

Okay, I have a confession to make. This is definitely going to be a fave for me because my two peeps are featured this month. It is hard to believe that our son is 23 and will ship out for basic training next April, did I forget to mention that? Yep, next April he fully becomes the property of the U.S. Army and leaves our corner of the world for a long, long time. I am still trying to wrap my brain around it but he is following in his grandpa's footsteps and we fully support him all the way. As for the youngest peep, our dd, it seems as though her life has flown by and now she's all grown up. Mercy, life isn't fair because I am NOT ready to be an empty nester in less than two years. LOL! Oh well, enough reminiscing for now as I might get a little weepy on you guys. Here's a close-up of the sparkly eggs...

and the deets for the month of April. I started with the Taylored Expressions Spring 2011 Project Pantry Kit which featured paper from We R Memory Keepers Hippity Hop Collection. I purchased this earlier in the year and it isn't currently available but maybe she'll bring it back next year. ;) Another purchase earlier in the year was Verve's awesome Easter release. Seriously cute stamps that have so many uses, it was one of my very favorite releases this year. I stamped eggs from Egg-stra Special onto dp's, cut them out and used a generous amount of Glossy Accents to make them shine and they received a dusting of MS's Sugar Cube glitter to make them sparkle. The grass border is another of Martha's wonderful border punches and I picked up the ribbon by Studio G for 97 cents at Wal-Mart. :-) The little butterfly is from the same stamp set and they were colored with Copics and I added a pearl to the center. Spellbinders dies are used to frame the sentiment which is also by Verve and again I used Taylor's Mini-Dated 2012 Calendar Download for April. I layered the calendar so I could outline it with liquid pearls and I love it when these work correctly, kwim? So there you have it, quick and fun and a treasure to keep!

Happy Crafting,
~Lisa

Tag...You're It!

Hello, I'm popping in quickly with some holiday tags that I whipped up this morning. The Tag...You're It! stamp set and Favor Frame Die make these a snap to put together and Copic markers bring them to life with two receiving a little bling to make them sparkle. ;)

I know this is short and sweet but it's another busy day and I hope to be back tomorrow with more tags and another calendar from my altered project.

Have a great day!

January Calendar & To-Do List Organizer

Hi there and welcome! I'm sharing the first month of my 2012 calendar/scrapbook album and I have a bonus for you. I made a To-Do List which helps me during the Christmas season and I hope it will be useful to you.

My January calendar doesn't feature scrapbooking because I opted for a larger calendar this month and you only have so much room on a 6x6 page. I couldn't resist this Pure Innocence stamp and it was great to "dress" her using the technique you'll find on the My Favorite Things blog. The calendar can be made through Microsoft's Word program or you can download one from various companies. I stamped the month on a die cut oval and traced the outer lines of the die on cardstock to back the stamped image. Liquid pearls, rhinestones, and a few snowflakes finish it off!

As for my second project, I am drawing inspiration again from TE's 12 Days of Christmas with this project. However my booklet is a handy To-Do List that features the Santa List Download available from Taylored Expressions. I trimmed the lists with my paper cutter and used book board to make the front & back covers which I decorated with Christmas dp's, a paper rose and brad. The sentiment was stamped on a die cut and Santa's coat was highlighted with a red glitter pen which you may not be able to see in the photo, sorry. A Cinch binding machine brings this project together with ease and I chose to use the colored images from the download which I've shown below. There are four images with two colored and two outlined so you can personalize. NOTE: Use a heavy duty paper cutter to cut the book/chipboard because a regular paper cutter will NOT cut through this material. Also you might find this video from Day 9 of TE's 12 Days of a Handcrafted Christmas helpful. Here's a photo of Santa and his elf from the Santa List Download.

That's all for today and I hope your creativity is sparked in some way. Need to save some money??? If you sign up to receive email from Hobby Lobby they will send you their weekly ad with a coupon. The coupon varies but quite often they offer 40% off and it is offered frequently from now through Christmas. ;) Who doesn't like to save some money? A few items are restricted like Cricut products, Copics and a few more I'm not sure of but everything else you can save some moolah on. JoAnn Crafts also offers coupons for signing up for email but they bar code their coupons and they can only be used once where Hobby allows you one coupon per day per customer during the weekly sale, how awesome is that? Hope this tip helps out! As for JoAnn, it doesn't cost anything to sign up and a coupon is a coupon, right?

Thank You

Hi there, I am popping in today with a card I made in September for a friend and co-worker of my DH who brought us the most delicious tomatoes, corn and peas all summer long from his garden. They were so tasty and the tomatoes were the best I've ever tasted, anywhere. I actually day dream about those tomatoes! LOL!! Oh well, it just gives me something to look forward to next summer. :-)

I'll be back this week with an altered project I am currently working on that's actually for me, yea! I had plans to make a lot of my Christmas this year but got sidetracked with moving my Dad in with us in October and having a junior in high school who is also taking six semester hours of college. Have I mentioned that I homeschool her? I do, and what on earth was I thinking when we signed her up for college??? I am sooo behind it isn't funny but I am trying not to stress out and figure I'll make this project for myself and if I like how it turns out then I'll make some as gifts. It will all get done somehow, I hope. Otherwise I will be decorating more altered tins to give out those handy dandy giftcards. ;)

Thanks for stopping by and I'd like to welcome my new followers to my blog. I am so grateful for you and love checking out your blogs as well. There are so many talented people in blogland and I love how crafters share their talent so graciously. A big thank you also to everyone who has left a sweet comment for me, it really means so much and they put a smile on my face.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
~Lisa

Brrrr....It's Cold Outside!

Can you believe that Christmas is two months from today? I could literally "freak out" right now but instead I'll take a deep breath and try to accomplish something every day. All of my dreams of a highly organized holiday season somehow always goes awry......surely it couldn't have anything to do with procrastination on my part, hehehe???

Today's card features the cutest little snowman on a snowy hill with stardust stickles for snowflakes and a purple variegated tree. The stamps are from the Holiday Wonder set by Taylored Expressions and the DP is Cosmo Cricket's Mitten Weather. I am contemplating stamping the snowman again and popping up on 3D dots for some dimension, what do you think? Should mention I used Copic markers and forgot to record the colors before cleaning up, shame on me.  :(

I mentioned last week that I wanted to make a girlie card with texture and layers and I am working on one for Taylor's current sketch challenge. I have a few other things up my sleeve and I've had some requests and will try to address those soon, please bear with me. We just moved my Dad from Texas to Tennessee to live with us for the next several months while he recuperates so time is limited. If there is something you'd like to see (i.e. better photos, definitions of acronyms used here on this blog, etc.) just leave a comment and I'll address it, promise. Also, to all of you who are visiting from overseas a hearty welcome to each of you. I love seeing all the foreign traffic and feel free to join so I can visit your blog as well. :-)

Have a wonderful day!
~Lisa

Color Swatch Challenge

WCMD 2011 - Color Swatch Challenge by Julie Ebersole (EHWCMD1)

EH-WCMD2011ColorChallenge

The "mission" if we chose to accept it was to make a card using these colors. I struggled a bit (actually a lot) but here is my card and the third entry for me in Ellen Hutson' World Cardmaking  Day Challenge.

I used black and yellow as accent colors and the lovely corner piece stamp by Penny Black was my DS's suggestion and adds a nice touch. As for the butterflies they were die cut from a DP in Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 collection and embellished with black and red pearls. All four colors are represented in the DP so I didn't stray too much hopefully. :-)

Three down with one to go which means I am off to find some gold foil. See ya tomorrow and hope your day is a good one!

~Lisa

Stamps: Corner Piece (Penny Black), New Beginnings (Taylored Expressions)
Paper: Circa 1934 DP (Cosmo Cricket), cardstock

Thinking of You

Hello all, just wanted to share a card I made which was inspired by the amazing Iwona Palomountain. She is also know as Chupa on SCS and the card I CASE'd can be found on her blog here. I'm always totally blown away by her use of color, choice of DP's and attention to detail.

For my card I used papers from the October Afternoon's Thrift Shop collection and used a Spellbinders Lattice Pendant behind the main stamped panel, which was accented with Lagoon Stickles. The stamped image is from,  Discover Your Wings, by Taylored Expressions and it's definitely a favorite of mine so I kept that as well. The banner was conceptualized by Chupa and is part of the Taylored Expressions It's a Banner Day 2 stamp set which was released in March of this year. So much creativity in one person :-)

That's it for me today but I'll be back with projects from The CLASSroom's World Cardmaking Day Challenges that Ellen Hutson sponsored on October 1, 2011. She is giving away blog candy and prizes so check it out, it's not too late.

~Lisa

It's a Love Thing

My in-laws recently had to put their beloved pet, a precious dachshund named Rosie, to sleep. They've been devastated and I wanted to make something special as a remembrance for them. I decided to scrap a page of photos that captured the love between them.

I was inspired by the layout here and the page came together very quickly. A 12x12 scrapbook frame purchased from Michael's last year helps to ensure that it will last forever.

She was a wonderful addition to their lives and loved by all!

Note: I apologize for the poor picture quality, lighting was terrible but you get the idea hopefully. Thanks for stopping by!

Beginnings

Today is a new beginning for me in many ways. I am officially entering the world of blogging and this is my  first post ever! I am excited to begin this journey and to see where it takes me creatively.

I have been inspired by so many talented people in the papercrafting community and today I am sharing a card I made for the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #146. Also another first for me. Here is my interpretation of the sketch and I chose to use the Winter Wonderland stamp set which I love, and you will too. Hope you enjoy!
