A Trio of Tags

We have a brand new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday and it's Anything Goes. We're sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and I'm using Snowflake Reindeer Silhouette on my trio of Christmas tags. I know it's a bit early for Christmas but I recently walked into Hobby Lobby and they literally have ALL of their holiday stuff out. I couldn't believe it and just decided to go with the flow and start on my holiday paper crafting a bit early this year. ;)

I used Taylored Expressions Frame It Up die for the base of my tags and Spellbinders Classic Ovals Lg. and Scalloped Ovals for the digital image. A red and green atyou Spica pen helped with my faux stitches and I distressed every edge with peeled paint and festive berries distress ink. The gingham ribbon was in my stash and I used a red button with twine on the middle tag. Simple and sweet!

A Ladies Diary Planner

Front Cover

Hi everyone!

I'm back from vacation and ready to share my Planner Set DT project with you today by the The Cutting Cafe. I love working with Regina's cutting files and this one in particular grabbed my attention because I'm a gal that likes to be organized. I absolutely love that I can customize the file to suit my needs! The cutting file includes a PDF that you can easily print and cut and also features black and color text options.

I used Graphic 45's A Ladies Diary collection to decorate the front and inside covers of my planner.

Note: I used a 2" 3-ring binder and I covered the outside covers using black chipboard as a base and adhering the G45 paper directly to it. I cut two pieces of chipboard, hole punched them and added vintage brads to secure. They are held in place with X-press It double sided tape which is strong enough to secure the panels yet if I want to change them I can.

For the base of  my pocket pages I used Prima's ledger 12 x 12 paper pad and every edge was distressed with Tim Holtz's gathered twigs distress ink. I love the warmth this color adds to my pages!

I'll share my second Planner Set with you next Monday as well as other books I've made from this set (address book and menu planner). Yes, all of these were made using this extensive file so it's a great value and can be used over and over.

Faded Layers, Oh My!

Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge #8 - Faded Layers 

Hello everyone, hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you happen to be!

I'm excited to share my project with you today because it's for someone special and it involves two of Tim Holtz's fabulous techniques. For those of you that play along with Tim's 12 Tags of 2014 you'll immediately recognize the "sand" technique from the July tag. I had to make more of that fabby sand! The "faded layers" technique is the current challenge for CC3C #8 and our lovely hostess is Linda Ledbetter. It seems we both love Tim's July tag. ;)

While we can't share the technique out of respect for Tim I can share my process. To achieve the faded layers look on my background I used alcohol inks, Tim's alcohol ink cardstock by Ranger and his Burlap Layering Stencil.  I love the texture it adds! I die cut grunge board using the images from the Alterations Mini Sand and Sea die set. Cardstock was used to die cut my Alterations Spring Greenery images and I followed his techniques for the 12 Tags of 2014-July tag.

The "sand" technique is so cool and I can't wait to try his "snow" technique on my TH inspired Christmas projects this year. :) Since this is a b'day card for my sweet DIL I used a word band that I love-enjoy the journey. I hope each and every year is a happy one for her and that the journey will always be enjoyed!

The Sweet Factor

Test Tube  - Candy Box Holder Box

I can hardly believe we are into August already! It'll be Halloween before you know it and today I have some sweet treats to share for our new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday. First though, I'd like to welcome our new DT member-Lori Turner. She was our GDT for the last challenge and Samantha asked her to join our team. We're so glad she agreed to! I didn't stop with Halloween though! This cutting file from The Cutting Cafe is so versatile and can be adapted for any holiday/occasion as you'll see with my next project. Using the same Test Tube - Candy Holder Box I made a sweet treat for my DIL's birthday next month. I should note that the file also offers the option of a single test tube -candy holder box as well. 

I die cut a Spellbinders blossom die, embossed it with a Seeing Dots folder and added some Kaisercraft bling (which I also added around the opening of the test tubes). A dimensional flower adorns the front and Spellbinders leaves were die cut and added. The sentiment was stamped on white paper and I used Tumbled Glass distress ink to color it. The test tubes are filled with one of her favorite candies, M and M's. By the way, I picked up several sets of these test tubes last year from Taylored Expressions in case you're interested.  

I have one more to share with you.

This is a Christmas themed Test Tube - Candy Holder Box  and I decorated it with Pink Paislee's City Sidewalks paper collection. I printed the PDF file out and hand cut with scissors. You can use this file with a cutting machine however I found it just as easy to cut it by hand. It goes together quickly and you can choose to decorate it with patterned paper or not. The twill holiday ribbon was perfect to spell out my sentiment. I dyed my crinkle ribbon with Festive Berries, Iced Spruce and Evergreen Bough distress stains and dried with a heat tool. I like to recycle and you'll see some of the PP packaging added to the top. 

The Halloween box is a favorite of mine because the top actually spins thanks to the brad I placed in the pumpkin's nose. The spinner is from a kit I purchased several years ago by Martha Stewart and so is the pumpkin. I knew they would come in handy some day! I also like that the hand looks like it's trying to grab the candy as you can see below. So cool!

 These were so much fun to make and the possibilities are endless!!!
